Growing up in church I heard a lot about what it meant to be a Christian. In Sunday school classes we would learn that if you wanted to be a good Christian you read your Bible, memorized scripture, tell other about Jesus, and pray.
I also grew up with the legalism of Christianity. I didn't know NKOTB, Michael Jackson, or any cultural references. I knew Christian culture.
Christianity can easily become a list of does and don't, but that is not what Christianity was meant to be.
Micah 6:8 tells us what God requires. We are told to act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.
If you want to live the type of Christianity that God wants we need to do those things. As a Christian culture, it seems like we have moved back to those issues. We have seen organizations like The A21 Campaign come to prominence. We have seen the church start to take a stand on justice issues, but there is more to do.
In your life are you doing what God requires of you?
